Float Spa Guidelines
Before R.E.S.T.
It's a good idea to use the bathroom prior to floating. Then remove your metal jewelry and contact lenses. Next, thoroughly shower, shampoo and dry your face before you get in the float spa. Do not use hair conditioners, lotions or oils before entering the float spa. Please reserve these items for use after you've come out of R.E.S.T.
If you have any open cuts please use liquid bandage to seal them.
During R.E.S.T.
There are two buttons in the float spa, one for music and one for the lights. Press the buttons right in the middle to make them work. Many floaters like to start out with gentle music playing. Music entrains the mind to unwind and helps one to acclimate to the environment. After about 20 minutes, floaters often turn the music off so that they can savor complete R.E.S.T. Listen to your needs and act in your own time.
You can experiment to find your best body position. For example, try your hands behind your head, on your chest, or along your sides. If there is tension in your neck it may be relieved by clasping your hands behind your head or using a float pillow.
Keep the salt out of your eyes! If you get any salt water in your eyes you will be uncomfortable for a few minutes. A dry face insures that the salty water will not creep into the corners of your eyes. Also, tilt your head back squeezing the salt solution off of your forehead as you sit up. In the float room a dry washcloth and a spray bottle of water are available to blot or irrigate the eyes if necessary. More ouch! Scratches or recently shaved skin may sting for a few minutes.
After R.E.S.T.
After you've floated for an hour, your guide will call on the intercom alerting you that your time is up. Feel free to turn the light on inside the float spa. When you're ready, stand and squeegee the salt water from your body and hair before getting out of the float room. Use the grab bar as you step onto the rug. Then, towel dry a little so that you don't drip everywhere when you are walking to the shower. Please stay on the rugs for your safety. Salty feet are more slippery than just wet feet! Finally, enjoy another shower. Still Waters provides the amenities you need.
